EULARINET Workshop on Renewable Energies (WP3)
21-09-2011 - 22-09-2011
Foreign Ministry Affairs Building - Av. Juárez No.20, Centro Histórico
Mexico City. Mexico
Renewable energy is especially significant given its importance for the economic well-being of the European Union and Latin American and Caribbean countries. It has become a priority and countries are increasingly recognizing the potential role of renewable energy within a portfolio of low-carbon and cost-competitive energy technologies capable of responding to the emerging major challenges of climate change, energy security, and access to energy.
This workshop in Renewable Energies, coordinated by CONACYT Mexico and MINCINN Spain, is part of a pilot initiative to develop and implement the EU-LAC Joint Initiative for Research and Innovation (JIRI), adopted on the Senior Officials’ meeting (SOM) on Science and Technology organised in Buenos Aires, Argentina, on February 25-26, 2010 and, it is being arranged in the framework of EULARINET´s activities as a an International Cooperation (INCO) instrument to deepen the bi-regional dialogue EU-LAC on research policy. The workshop arranged in Mexico will be focused in the definition of bi-regional pilot activities in solar energy - both photovoltaic and thermal- and bioenergy.
